Economic and Financial Affairs (ECOFIN)
*This additional meeting of the ECOFIN Council is convening to further discuss the Banking Resolution and Recovery Directive (BRRD) with the aim of reaching political agreement following discussions on June 21*
The Economic and Financial Affairs Council (Ecofin) deals with economic policy coordination, economic surveillance, monitoring of Member States' budgetary policy and public finances, the euro (legal, practical and international aspects), financial markets and capital movements, and economic relations with third countries. Each November Ecofin, meeting in an EU Budget specific configuration, concludes the Conciliation with the European Parliament on the annual EU Budget. The Council is composed of the Economics and Finance Ministers of the Member States, as well as EU Budget responsible Ministers when EU budgetary issues are discussed. The regular Ecofin meets once a month including one informal meeting per Presidency and is chaired by the rotating Presidency (i.e. Ireland for the first half of 2013).
On the Council's website you can find information on all Council meetings, including the agenda, background note, and webcasts of all open sessions. We will livestream press conferences on this website's press centre, and add images and videos of the event, and press releases, to this page.
